Native American symbol for Healing Hand. Jim and Doris wish to thank University Medical Center’s emergency room, intensive care, and trauma center staffs for providing outstanding care during Jim’s week-long stay.

10 years as fire and safety engineer at Raytheon Missile Systems

Jim had a career of over 40 years in life safety and fire protection, with the last 10 years at Raytheon Missile Systems as Fire and Safety Engineer. As he lay on the ground bleeding from a chest and leg wound after the mass shooting, he remembers looking up at the sprinklers protecting the canopy overhead and thinking, ‘Yeah that’s about the right spacing’—focusing on something familiar helped clear his dazed mind.

Rising Sun

Arizona has been home for over 35 years

The rising sun, the symbol for Arizona, the state Jim and Doris have called home for over 35 years. They wish to express their thanks to the entire Tucson community and friends around the world, for the many prayers and expressions of concern toward them. To the Good Samaritans, who aided and comforted Jim prior to the arrival of the emergency responders, who sat with Doris in the emergency room, they have their special thanks.

The Ichthys sign, symbol for the family of Christians. Jim and Doris wish to thank their local church, and especially thank for the many prayers, encouragement and acts of kindness on their behalf. And finally, a thank you to their family members who supported them in a myriad of invaluable ways.
